What is the F2F Fashion Studies Series?
The Face-2-Face (F2F) Fashion Studies Series is a three part introduction to the World of Fashion. The series introduces you to three primary areas of the fashion industry. These three areas include: Inside the Fashion Business, Fashion Merchandising, and Fashion Entrepreneurship. I will discuss significant theories and concepts related to each area and how these theories apply in the fashion work environment.
The three 3-part seminar is presented in sequential order, with each course building on the next: Inside the Fashion Business, Fashion Merchandising, and Fashion Entrepreneurship.
Fashion 101: Part 1
Inside the Fashion Business
October 28, 2023 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. CST
The first course in the series is “Inside the Fashion Business.” This course teaches you how the fashion complex is structured, and the five (5) segments that make up the fashion industry. Knowing how the industry operates is key to understanding how to move within the industry, whether you want a career or your own business. Inside the Fashion Business is for you if you have a particular interest in the components that make up what is the fashion industry. Significant segments of the fashion industry include fashion design, production, and the marketing of women's, men's, children's apparel, accessories, and cosmetics.
Fashion 201: Part 2
Fashion Merchandising
October 28, 2023 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. CST
The second course in the series is “Fashion Merchandising.” This course takes up where Inside the Fashion Business ends. After fashions are designed and produced, a plan must be put into place to move this merchandise into the consumer market. This course teaches the planning necessary to have the right merchandise at the right time, in the right place, in the right quantities, at the correct prices and with the proper marketing and sales promotions. In my opinion, Fashion Merchandising is the heart of the fashion industry, fashion lives, or die based on how well fashion professionals satisfy the fashion needs and wants of consumers.
Fashion 301: Part 3
Fashion Entrepreneurship

Finally, the third course in the series is “Fashion Entrepreneurship.” The fashion industry is filled with entrepreneurs who had a great idea. Understanding the fashion business and fashion merchandising makes it easier to find your place in the industry. Entrepreneurs are vital contributors to all segments of the fashion industry. Creating a brand and launching a new product or service can be an exhilarating experience. However, learning the role of an entrepreneur, the characteristics of a successful fashion entrepreneur, and the foundation of a fashion business entity are key to the success of fashion entrepreneurs.
